NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Don’t let your contradictions keep you from your calling. “This book will challenge you and encourage you into a life characterized by prayerful dependence and decisiveness—your life will never be the same.”—Mark Batterson, author of The Circle Maker Many of us are overwhelmed by the gap between our weaknesses and our dreams, between who we are and who God says we are meant to be. We feel unqualified to do God’s work or to live out the possibilities we imagine. But God has a way of using our weaknesses for good. In fact, God loves unqualified people. This is a book about understanding your identity in light of who God is. It’s a book about coming to terms with the good, the bad, and the unmentionable in your life and learning to let God use you. It’s about charging into the gap between your present circumstances and your future dreams and meeting God there. After all, God can’t bless who you pretend to be. But he longs to bless who you really are: a flawed and broken person. Fortunately for us God is in the business of using broken people to do big things. Read more
Review
Pastor Furtick has yet again written a book that is both powerful for the individual, and invigorating for Christ's Church. Full disclosure, I am an Elevator and member of Pastor Furtick's church, Elevation Church in Charlotte, NC, and thank God everyday that my family and I have the opportunity to receive teachings directly from this amazing man of God every weekend. I remember, a long time ago, wondering what it was like to live in Australia near Hillsong Church, and how amazing it must be for those lucky members to be able to receive a blessing and teaching each weekend from such a game changing, world renowned church, and now my family and I know exactly how it feels, cause we're some of the lucky ones. What I love most about this entire book is how it came to be. This is only a minor spoiler alert that is described literally in the opening lines of the book, but to make it quick and simple, I'll shorten it. One day, while preparing for church, Pastor Furtick had a YouTube video playing of a well-known and respected theologian who was being interviewed. During a lightning round of questions, this theologian was asked to summarize the names that followed with one word. When it came time for my pastors name to be called, the man's response was "unqualified." Hence, the basis of this book. Like Pastor Furtick, and all the rest who are blessed by this book, I am thankful for both the algorithm within YouTube that suggested this video to him, and for the theologians response, because it caused a revolution within my pastor, and subsequently within our church, and now within our nation and world. We are ALL (UN)Qualified in some way or another, and in fact, as this book illustrates, God often uses the least qualified among us to do the most miraculous and tremendous works. If you've ever felt that a part of you, whether it be your spirituality, physicality, morality, personality, and all the other "ity" words you can think of has held you back, or kept you from achieving a goal or desire of your heart, you need to read this book. If you are reading my review right now and saying, "Well, I have none of those 'ity' words I can identify with," then you most definitely need to read this book because your lying to yourself, and holding yourself back from what God has planned to do through you, for you, and for his church and this world!God Bless you All!
