Desciption

Nearly 40 years ago, Ralph Martin's best-selling A Crisis of Truth exposed the damaging trends in Catholic teaching and preaching that, combined with attacks from secular society, threatened the mission and life of the Catholic Church. While much has been done to counter false teaching over the last four decades, today the church faces even more insidious threats from outside and within. In A Church in Crisis: Pathways Forward, Martin offers a detailed look at the growing hostility to the Catholic Church and its teaching. With copious evidence, Martin uncovers the forces working to undermine the Body of Christ and offers hope to those looking for clarity.A Church in Crisis covers:Polarization in the church caused by ambiguous teachingsInitiatives that accommodate the culture without calling for conversionVatican-sponsored partnerships with organizations that actively contradict the teaching of the Catholic ChurchAnd the recycling of theological errors long settled by Vatican II, Pope St. John Paul II, and Pope Benedict XVIPowerfully written, A Church in Crisis reminds all listeners to heed Jesus' express command not to lead his children astray. With ample resources to encourage readers, Ralph Martin provides the solid foundation of Catholic teaching both Scripture and tradition to fortify Catholics against the errors that threaten us from all directions. Review

For decades, Ralph Martin has always been impressive, probably because of his humility, his solid spirituality. But this might be his best work. There’s been so much going on in the Church for so long. Listening to Ralph Martin narrate this Audible book has been Spellbinding! I thought I was keeping up on all of this, but he goes a lot further in revealing what he is calling this "crisis." He spells all of this out in gory detail! It's just been incredible that he's addressing all the problems we are dealing with in the Church. He paints a clear picture of what Archbishop Viganò has been speaking about: the surrendering of the Church to the Enemy. It seems that the future is pointing to the Church and Catholics, maybe all Christians, with various difficulties of uncertain proportions. There's schizophrenia in society and in the Church. Good is being taken as evil. Evil is being offered as good and the Truth. Two different camps! I also didn't think I was in favor of Ralph Martin's criticism of Pope Francis' actions, but he first speaks clearly of the respect that we must have for the Pope and then shows how his decisions, writings, and actions are causing and have caused lots of confusion: like Viganò condemning Pope Francis’s recent endorsement of Father James Martin; or Pope Francis' appointment of Cardinals Cupich, Gregory, Tobin to special assignments. Again, Viganò speaks out about this. Ralph Martin insists it's causing lots of confusion. And it’s amazing how Ralph Martin connects all of this with the cancel culture, the violence in our streets, defunding the police, the gender-identity problems, BLM, the programs being put forward in our schools to indoctrinate our children, like critical race theory, the green new deal, transgenderism, destructive measures towards our economy, and lots more to a cleverly devised Marxist tactic to bring our country (and Church) down and create mindless masses subject to a totalitarian form of existence. I think he’s at his best!Interesting! He does an entire chapter, backpedalling to his earlier work, "Will Many Be Saved?" It sets the stage for the major thrust he makes as the root of all this is the non adherence to the words and teachings of the Scriptures and the Second Vatican Council and he supports his claims with quoting of these things word by word. Showing how living the "spirit" of the Council has been a far cry of what the Council actually taught and proposed.I know many people might disagree with him on this, but if anyone would actually read the documents, I believe they would be in agreement with what Ralph Martin is talking to us about
